Scottie Scheffler is part of the USA team that will take on the International Team in the Presidents Cup this week, with the event taking place without any LIV Golf involvement
Scottie Scheffler has opened up about missing the competition with former colleagues Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau from the LIV Golf series, ahead of the upcoming Presidents Cup in Montreal.
Team USA is getting ready to go head-to-head with the International Team at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, and hopes are high for the Americans to clinch their 10th consecutive Presidents Cup title. This week’s competition will be without the LIV Golf members because of an ongoing rift in the golfing world.
With US captain Jim Furyk leading the way, there’s been a notable lack of participation from two major figures on the team US Open champion DeChambeau and five-time major winner Koepka, due to the split. However, both men from the LIV Golf setup will have the opportunity to square off against their PGA Tour counterparts in December during a matchplay event in Las Vegas.
Scheffler, who’ll take his place on Team USA come Friday, shared his anticipation of rejoining Koepka and DeChambeau later in the year while acknowledging that he does miss the days spent vying for victory alongside the LIV standouts. Reflecting on their past associations, he shared, “I’ve partnered with Brooks and Bryson at Ryder Cups before,” during a Tuesday interview.
“I’ve never obviously had a chance to play with Rory at the Ryder Cup, but those are two guys I really miss competing against. Brooks has five major championships — five, six? Five. That’s a pretty cool record for him. He’s had a great career. He’s a guy I love competing against.
