Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is actively negotiating the purchase of the satellite Ducati MotoGP squad from Gresini Racing.

Sources reveal that discussions have progressed significantly, with Hamilton expressing keen interest in acquiring the team from current boss Nadia Padovani.

Hamilton’s involvement marks a potential milestone in MotoGP’s history, coinciding with the sport’s acquisition by F1’s owner, Liberty Media.

This move could strategically leverage Hamilton’s global appeal and crossover appeal between F1 and MotoGP, given his deep-rooted passion for motorcycles and extensive personal collection.

Financially, the deal poses minimal risk for Hamilton, with key sponsors like Petronas and Monster Energy, already associated with both MotoGP and Hamilton’s current team Mercedes F1, likely to support the venture.

Regulatory approval remains pending, with a decision expected later this year.
