Keegan Bradley was the star of the show in the Presidents Cup as he secured the winning point for Team USA, and the Ryder Cup captain was emotional after the victory
Fresh off securing victory at the Presidents Cup for Team USA, Keegan Bradley is already setting his sights on next years Ryder Cup. Drawing on Jim Furyk’s leadership style as inspiration, after serving as an assistant captain to Furyk, Bradley has his eyes set on success when he leads the team in 2025 at Bethpage.
The American golf star netted the winning point this Sunday, capping off an incredible final round that saw the US side defeat the International Team with a score of 18.5-11.5 marking their tenth successive triumph over the opposition.
2023 has been a stellar year for Bradley, who was appointed Team USA Ryder Cup captain in July and emerged as the Presidents Cup’s standout performer after a ten-year absence from the event. With high hopes for the Ryder Cup, Bradley honoured Furyk in an interview, stating his intent to mirror the successful blueprint laid out by the captain.
“We’re going to copy a lot of what Jim Furyk did this week,” Bradley stated during his chat with NBC Sports. “He set a culture here for us and we are going to carry that over into Bethpage and I hope a lot of these 12 are on that team.”
Overwhelmed with emotion after landing the decisive putt, following Si Woo Kim’s miss on the green, Bradley took a moment to regain his composure before sharing how significant the accomplishment was to him, possibly marking his last appearance as a player for Team USA.
“Wow, that was incredible,” Bradley exclaimed. “I kept saying all week ‘I didn’t know if I’d ever get to do this again’ and to just be able to play in this tournament and to win the point my goodness. The last time I played I was the point to lose the Ryder Cup. If this is my last round as a player, maybe it is, I’m happy with that.
