Collin Morikawa Opens Up About Parting Ways with Longtime Caddie J.J. Jakovac

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa has shed light on his recent decision to part ways with his longtime caddie, J.J. Jakovac, marking the end of a successful six-year partnership.

In an interview on the “Dan on Golf” show, Morikawa expressed that the decision was not due to performance issues but rather a feeling that “sometimes things just aren’t feeling right” on the course. He emphasized that despite their achievements, including victories at the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 Open Championship, the chemistry between them had shifted.

“It wasn’t an easy talk,” Morikawa admitted, acknowledging the difficulty of the conversation with Jakovac. He praised Jakovac’s contributions, stating, “If you look at his resume, if you look at what we’ve done just simply over the past six years, it’s incredible.”

Morikawa has since appointed Joe Greiner, former caddie for Max Homa, as his new caddie. Greiner recently filled in for Justin Thomas during his win at the RBC Heritage, showcasing his capabilities on the bag.

As Morikawa prepares for the upcoming Truist Championship in Philadelphia from May 8-11, he looks forward to this new chapter in his career with Greiner by his side.
