Bryson DeChambeau was the center of a chaotic yet heartwarming scene at Bethpage Black on Tuesday, as security staff were forced to hold back barricades to protect golf fans scrambling for his autograph at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
The viral clip, posted by Golf Digest, shows the 32-year-old signing dozens of autographs during Team USA’s practice round in New York. At one point, multiple security guards can be seen bracing against the barriers to stop eager spectators from toppling over in their rush to reach the American star.
One fan can be heard shouting “Bryson, I love you!” as the LIV Golf standout continues to work the crowd. Towards the end of the video, DeChambeau even signs the back of a shirt worn by one of the security staff—drawing laughs from onlookers.
The incident highlights DeChambeau’s soaring popularity, both as one of golf’s most explosive players and as a YouTube personality, where he has amassed more than 2.4 million subscribers.
The moment also comes just a day after Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee criticized DeChambeau, calling him a “captain’s nightmare” and suggesting many of his online followers are bots. The viral video, however, paints a very different picture of his fanbase.
DeChambeau is making his third Ryder Cup appearance this week. He previously represented Team USA in their 2018 defeat at Le Golf National and their dominant 2021 victory at Whistling Straits but was left off the squad in Rome two years ago.
With Bethpage’s famously rowdy New York crowd firmly behind him, DeChambeau is proving once again that he is one of the Ryder Cup’s biggest attractions—both on and off the course.
