Bryson DeChambeau slammed over ‘bot-inflated’ YouTube views and called an ‘odd duck’ ahead of Ryder Cup

Bryson DeChambeau’s presence on Team USA has sparked fresh controversy just days before the Ryder Cup, with golf analyst Brandel Chamblee accusing the LIV Golf star of inflated YouTube numbers and branding him a “captain’s nightmare.”

The 31-year-old joins Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, and the rest of Team USA at Bethpage Black, but not everyone is convinced he fits in.

Chamblee, never one to mince words, blasted DeChambeau for focusing more on his personal brand than on the historic tournament. “When asked about Rory’s comments, he didn’t mention the Ryder Cup, didn’t mention playing for his country, didn’t mention the team,” Chamblee said on air. “What he did talk about was his YouTube channel — and those numbers look pretty dubious. I’ve got no doubt bots are boosting a lot of those views.”

Instead of highlighting the honor of competing against Team Europe, DeChambeau’s remarks centered on his off-course projects, something Chamblee believes could fracture team chemistry.

“He’s a phenomenal golfer, no doubt about that, and fans say he can be generous,” Chamblee added. “But he’s an odd duck in a team room. He’s full of potential bulletin-board material, and that makes him very hard to pair with. Honestly, he’s a captain’s nightmare.”

As tensions rise, the question remains: will DeChambeau’s talent outweigh the distractions — or will his presence unsettle Team USA at Bethpage Black?
