Augusta National is making another significant move in how golf fans watch the Masters. Beginning next spring, Amazon Prime Video will stream first- and second-round coverage of the tournament in the United States, airing Thursday and Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. Eastern. This new window will lead directly into ESPN’s traditional early-round coverage from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
Weekend broadcasts will remain on CBS, and fans will still have access to additional streaming options through the Masters’ official website.
The move signals Augusta National’s continued embrace of digital platforms. Amazon has rapidly expanded its live sports offerings, acquiring Thursday Night Football rights in 2021 and preparing to stream NBA games this fall. The Masters has yet to clarify whether Amazon will provide its own commentary team or use production crews linked to ESPN, CBS, or the club itself.
This change follows Augusta National’s 2025 partnership with Paramount+, which streams early weekend coverage. The Masters saw record audiences last year when Rory McIlroy completed the career Grand Slam, delivering CBS its biggest tournament TV audience in seven years and giving Paramount+ its largest non-NFL sports audience ever. By contrast, ESPN’s ratings dipped from 2024 levels.
“Working alongside Amazon in this capacity is an exciting opportunity for the Masters Tournament and its fans,” tournament chairman Fred Ridley said in a statement. “We are proud of our longstanding partnerships with CBS Sports and ESPN, who have set the highest standard for Masters coverage. Adding Amazon will only enhance how the Tournament is presented and enjoyed.”
The broadcast news arrives shortly after the Masters announced expanded exemptions for national open winners and the end of automatic invitations for PGA Tour Fall event champions.
