Ted Scott’s Absences from Scottie Scheffler’s Bag: A Look into the Reasons

Ted Scott, the seasoned caddie for World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler, has been notably absent during certain tournaments and rounds over the past year. These absences have been due to personal commitments and professional opportunities, rather than any controversy or forced removal.

Family Commitments

In May 2024, during the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, Scott missed the third round to attend his daughter’s high school graduation. Scheffler supported this decision, emphasizing that “family always comes first” in their partnership. Brad Payne, a close friend of Scheffler and a PGA Tour chaplain, stepped in as the substitute caddie for that round.

Professional Opportunities

Earlier in June 2024, Scott was absent from the Canadian Open as he participated in the Korn Ferry Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am in Greenville, South Carolina. Invited as a celebrity participant, Scott took the opportunity to engage in this event. During his absence, PGA Tour caddie Jordan Guilford carried Scheffler’s bag.

These instances highlight Scott’s commitment to balancing his professional responsibilities with personal and other professional engagements. His absences have been communicated in advance and managed with the support of Scheffler and the team.

As of now, there are no reports indicating any issues or controversies regarding Scott’s role as Scheffler’s caddie. Their partnership continues to be strong, with mutual respect and understanding at its core.
