Jon Rahm reveals the key weakness that cost him a chance at the BMW PGA Championship

Jon Rahm continued his strong 2025 campaign with another solid showing at the BMW PGA Championship, though the Spaniard admitted one part of his game ultimately stopped him from contending for the title.

Rahm, who earlier this season defeated Joaquin Niemann to win the LIV Golf Individual Championship and posted impressive results in the majors, is now focused on helping Team Europe reclaim the Ryder Cup on American soil for the first time since Medinah in 2012.

As part of his preparation, Rahm teed it up at Wentworth, where he finished tied for 13th. While satisfied with much of his play, he left the event frustrated by one recurring problem.

Speaking after his final round, Rahm highlighted his struggles on the greens as the decisive factor.

“Three or four very different rounds,” he told Sky Sports. “The first three were tricky and windy. I wasn’t fully comfortable with my swing, so it was survival golf for the most part. Today, the conditions were much easier, and I started great, but my main issue, besides iron play, was the pace of putting.”

Rahm admitted he consistently left putts short, despite hitting them on the right line, which cost him crucial shots.

“I left many putts short. A lot of them were on great lines, and that’s just giving shots away, not giving them a chance to drop,” he added.

With the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black fast approaching, Rahm will now look to sharpen his putting touch as he aims to lead Europe to a historic away victory.
