Rory McIlroy’s Reaction to Winning The Masters

Standing on the 18th green, tears welled in Rory McIlroy’s eyes as the reality sank in—he had finally won The Masters. With this triumph, he completed the career Grand Slam, a goal that had eluded him for over a decade.

“It’s hard to put into words,” McIlroy said, voice trembling. “This is the one I’ve chased for so long. To finally slip on the Green Jacket—it’s a dream come true. All the years of heartbreak here, they’ve led to this moment. I’ll never forget it.”

He looked toward the Augusta skies, a mix of joy and relief washing over him. “I kept telling myself to stay patient, stay present. And today, everything came together. I’m so proud of how I fought.”

The crowd roared. Rory smiled, clutched the Green Jacket tighter, and added, “This one was for everyone who never stopped believing in me—even when I doubted myself.”

Rory McIlroy had been chasing the Grand Slam in his career for over a decade. Now, he has finally achieved that with his first-ever win at Augusta National.

McIlroy has won The Masters in 2025 in earning his green jacket in his 17th time playing the course. It’ll be his 29th career win, and third in total this season, and fifth victory at a major, which will give him that accomplishment of the Grand Slam.

“The long journey is over! McIlroy has his masterpiece.”

McIlroy missed what would’ve been a winning putt on No. 18 to finish his fourth round at 73 (+1). That set up a playoff between he and Justin Rose both at -11 for the tournament. He’d go on to win that playoff, though, coming off a second shot back on No. 18 that set up the winning putt within feet of the hole. With that, McIlroy birdied the final hole and fell to his knees in pure emotion for the career achievement
