Collin Morikawa comments Bryson DeChambeau’s attitude towards PGA tour

Collin Morikawa has praised Bryson DeChambeau for making the effort to join his Ryder Cup teammates despite being unable to compete in the PGA Tour’s Procore Championship because of his LIV Golf affiliation.

DeChambeau, one of LIV’s biggest stars, is barred from PGA Tour events, but the 31-year-old traveled to California this week to spend time with Team USA as they prepare for next month’s showdown at Bethpage Black.

Speaking to reporters at Silverado Resort, Morikawa emphasized the importance of DeChambeau’s presence.

“Not just this week, he’s made efforts to come out to other meetings and dinners as well. It shows that he cares,” Morikawa said. “We’ve all put the individual stuff aside. To have him around the team, hanging out—it’s all positive. The more we’re together, the closer and more comfortable we’ll be.”

DeChambeau’s commitment comes at a time when Team USA has faced criticism for lacking unity in past Ryder Cups. His willingness to prioritize camaraderie over competition, Morikawa suggested, is proof of how invested he is in the team’s success.

“I’m not saying just because we lost in Rome there was awkwardness in the team room,” Morikawa added. “Everyone’s been great together. But adding those extra dinners and time together shows how much he cares. He’s willing to do everything we need from him to put points on the board.”

Team USA, captained by Keegan Bradley, will face Team Europe at Bethpage Black later this month.
