Tommy Fleetwood’s long-awaited PGA Tour triumph at the Tour Championship has inspired celebrations across the golf world — and even a bit of lighthearted self-mockery from one of his peers.
Fleetwood needed 164 starts to finally claim victory on the PGA Tour, doing so in emphatic fashion with a three-shot win at East Lake that also crowned him FedExCup champion and earned him a $10 million bonus.
His success, however, sparked a playful reminder for Byeong-Hun An, who is still chasing his first PGA Tour win after 225 starts. Sports journalist Brian Kirschner joked on X that with Fleetwood off the winless list, An was now “officially the best golfer on Tour without a win.”
An, who has earned over $21 million in his career and notched two DP World Tour titles — including the prestigious BMW PGA Championship in 2015 — took the jab in good humor. Known for his witty social media presence, the 33-year-old South Korean replied:
“So happy for him. It’s like seeing your best friend get married but you are still single!”
Despite five runner-up finishes and 19 other top-fives, victory has so far eluded An. Still, his consistent play secured him a spot inside the FedExCup top 75 this season, comfortably retaining his PGA Tour card and ensuring he’ll have another chance to break his drought next year.
