Scottie Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, felt unwell during the ongoing second round of the Open Championship. The sickness became quite serious, forcing him to leave Royal Troon midway through the round.
On Friday, July 19, Scottie Scheffler entered the second round of the Open after shooting 1-11 of the season. However, he faced a setback during the second round as his caddie, Scott, got sick in the middle of the round.
Brody Miller from The Athletic reported that Scott was lying down on his back on the side of the second green. He added that Scheffler’s groupmates, Shane Lowry and Matt Fitzpatrick, checked on Scott. Once Scheffler completed the hole, Scott stood up and moved on to the next hole.
Earlier, broadcasters had also mentioned that Ted Scott was feeling unwell, and he was seen multiple times lying on the ground. A couple of months ago, Scott left the PGA Championship midweek to attend his daughter’s high school graduation. However, he returned on Sunday, where ScheScott8 shot 65 to tie for eighth.
Scott has been part of all 12 PGA Tour wins of the World No. 1 golfer. Before teaming up with Scheffler, he used to caddie for two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson.
On Thursday, July 18, Scottie Scheffler shared his perspective on the conditions at the Royal Troo
“I don’t know if confusing is the right word, just challengng,” he said, as per ASAP Sports. “Especially when you get the rain involved. When you get a wet ball into the wind, it’s amazing how short it goes.
“I hit — I think it was No. 2 today, I had 165 to the pin off a slight upslope, and I hit a hold 5-iron, which for me usually goes about 205. It went probably 155 at the most. Probably carried 150, and ended up 155, and I striped it.”
At the time of writing, Scheffler was at even par for the round and 1-under after playing 29 holes at the Open Championship so far. He is tied for 10th, seven strokes behind the leader
