Scottie Scheffler Announces Liv golf Move

Scottie Scheffler has given his thoughts on the LIV Golf lawsuit, admitting he was initially left ‘frustrated’ by the actions of some of his fellow PGA Tour players

Scottie Scheffler has admitted his frustrations with golf’s civil war

Scottie Scheffler has disclosed that any animosity between PGA Tour and LIV Golf players has subsided, despite initial frustration with the likes of Phil Mickelson over the fallout.

After the formation of LIV in 2022, the PGA Tour decided to adopt a zero tolerance policy, suspending any members who chose to switch to the Saudi-funded setup. Despite the lucrative offers available, Scheffler was among many who chose to stick with the PGA Tour. However, not everyone followed this stance, with some of the Tour’s biggest names choosing to forfeit their playing rights on the circuit to join the breakaway league.

Following the PGA Tour’s sanctioning process, 10 LIV players – including Mickelson – chose to take legal action against the decision, filing a lawsuit against the American-based circuit over the punishment. However, all legal action was dropped following a surprise framework agreement between the Tour and Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) last June.

This agreement marked a change in the stance of both rival tours, despite no peace deal being finalised over 15 months later. Scheffler has largely stayed out of the off-course politics in recent years, but did share some thoughts ahead of this week’s Presidents Cup in Montreal.

“There’s just so many moving pieces in that deal,” Scheffler claimed, revealing his initial reaction to the controversy
