Larry Nance Jr. Speaks Out After Returning to Cleveland

Larry Nance Jr. is officially back with the Cleveland Cavaliers. On Day 2 of NBA free agency, Nance signed a one-year deal with the Cavs — the team he previously played three and a half seasons with. Due to the Cavs being a second apron team under the new CBA rules, they could only offer him a one-year contract. Even so, the 32-year-old forward accepted a lower salary to return home and join a team that’s aiming to contend for a championship.

Nance, known for his leadership and locker room presence, is expected to bring veteran experience to a Cavs team loaded with talent but still chasing postseason success. Despite recent injuries, he’s proven he can still contribute when healthy.

“I’m just happy to be able to give all I have to help my hometown team challenge for a title,” Nance told Marc J. Spears of Andscape.

After a disappointing playoff exit, many expected major changes in Cleveland. But instead, the organization is sticking with its core and reloading around it. Alongside Nance, they’ve added Lonzo Ball — another former Laker — as they make another push toward a title.

Cavs Retool for Another Run

With the current CBA making it difficult for teams to maintain expensive rosters, the Cavs know their championship window may not be open for long. Still, they’ve managed to keep their core — Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen — intact, while adding reliable role players.

Ball replaces Ty Jerome at point guard, Sam Merrill stays, and wing depth remains solid with Max Strus, De’Andre Hunter, and Jaylon Tyson. Nance is expected to fill a key bench role behind Mobley and Allen in the frontcourt.

While it’s uncertain how much Nance has left after his knee injury cut short his time with the Atlanta Hawks last season, his commitment to Cleveland is clear. If he can stay healthy, he’ll be a valuable piece in the Cavs’ quest to finally break through.
