Former world No. 1 Martin Kaymer is wasting no time in the LIV Golf offseason, as the Cleeks GC captain sets out to rebuild his team following a tough 2025 campaign. With one roster spot now open after rookie Frederik Kjettrup’s relegation, Kaymer has revealed he’s assessing a pool of up to 15 potential signings.
The two-time major champion is determined to strengthen his lineup ahead of the 2026 season, confirming that Cleeks GC is using advanced data analytics to identify the best available talent.
“We have probably 10, 12, 15 names on our list that we’re looking at,” Kaymer told Bunkered. “There’s interest from both sides, and now we’re looking into the stats to make a leaderboard — who would be statistically the best fit. Then we’ll go from there. It’s still early in the process.”
LIV Golf officially opened its offseason window this week, allowing teams to make trades, renew contracts, and sign new players. The Cleeks’ season started brightly with Adrian Meronk’s win in Riyadh but quickly fell apart, with Kaymer and Richard Bland finishing 37th and 27th in the individual standings, respectively.
Kjettrup, who ended the year bottom of the table with zero points, was one of six players relegated — a group that also included Henrik Stenson, Andy Ogletree, Mito Pereira, Yubin Jang, and Anthony Kim.
Despite the team’s struggles, Kaymer has made it clear he remains committed to LIV Golf for the foreseeable future. The German star, who lifted both the PGA Championship and U.S. Open during his prime, hopes to secure a long-term deal as his current contract expires.
“Most of the contracts are up right now,” he explained. “I plan to keep playing on LIV, hopefully for the next five years. That’s my goal and my hope — but at 40, I also want a contract that feels comfortable for me.”
As the offseason unfolds, significant roster changes are expected across the LIV Golf landscape, with several teams aiming for fresh starts before the 2026 season kicks off once again in Riyadh.
Kaymer’s data-driven recruitment strategy could prove key as the Cleeks look to turn the page on a difficult year and reclaim their place among the league’s contenders.
