“Makes no sense”; “BS”: War breaks out as PGA declares Tiger Woods superior to Scottie Scheffler in 2024’s Player Impact Program
The PGA Tour has determined that Tiger Woods had the most impact on golf in 2024, not Scottie Scheffler. The legendary golfer appeared in five tournaments and the PNC Championship during the year, but his impact on the sport, in the Tour’s eyes, goes beyond how much or how well he plays.
The Player Impact Program seeks to pay out golfers based on how important they are to the Tour. It’s the tour’s way of rewarding those who’ve stuck around and helped push the sport forward.
As a result, Tiger Woods took home the top prize for 2024, which was a $10 million bonus. Scheffler, who won nine times (including a Major and a bevy of Signature Events) not counting the Olympics and the Hero World Challenge, earned $8 million.
The perceived snub has the golf community online debating whether this was the right choice by the PGA Tour. Most of them didn’t think it was.
“He ‘won’ the PIP? How, by sitting on his a** in some conference room? What a complete scam. The news coming out of the PGAT just keeps getting worse. They are completely off the rails,” one fan complained.
“In the same year, Scottie Scheffler won 9 times including the Masters, Olympics and FedEx Cup,” a fan said.
