Golf fans have erupted online, calling for immediate disciplinary action against Wyndham Clark following a “disgusting” outburst at this year’s US Open.
The 2025 tournament at Oakmont Country Club has already been labeled one of the toughest in recent history, with the course’s notoriously narrow fairways, punishing rough, and lightning-fast greens testing even the world’s best players. Big names such as Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, and Ludvig Åberg all failed to make the cut — and former US Open champion Wyndham Clark joined them in heading home early.
However, it was Clark’s behavior off the course that caused uproar. According to reports from golf insider Tron Carter of No Laying Up, Clark allegedly damaged part of Oakmont’s historic locker room following a poor round. Carter shared a photo of the aftermath, sparking outrage among fans.
One fan fumed, “He should be banned from Oakmont — you don’t disrespect a place like that.” Another added, “Suspend him. The USGA needs to make a statement against this kind of behavior.” Others called for a season-long suspension or even a lifetime ban from the iconic course.
Oakmont’s locker room is considered a “living museum,” featuring benches marked by legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods. Fans were quick to point out the disrespect of damaging such a historic site.
Carter added on X (formerly Twitter):
“Multiple sources confirming that the Blow Pig really got after it in the Oakmont locker room. Super classy, desecrating one of the most historic spots in golf AND on the heels of his behavior at Quail Hollow. Probably time to put him in the cooler for a few months.”
This isn’t the first time Clark has lost his temper this season. During the PGA Championship, he apologized after snapping his driver in frustration when his tee shot went astray.
He’s not alone in letting emotions boil over at Oakmont — even Masters champion Rory McIlroy faced criticism for throwing his club and smashing a tee marker after a poor stretch of holes.
Meanwhile, 2022 US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick hit out at Oakmont’s setup after missing the cut, calling it “unfair” and claiming it “penalizes good shots too harshly.”
As the dust settles from one of the most controversial US Opens in years, the spotlight remains firmly on Clark — with fans waiting to see if the USGA or PGA Tour will respond to growing calls for disciplinary action.
