Dustin Johnson’s future with LIV Golf has been decided, with the American star reportedly agreeing to a contract extension that will keep him in the Saudi-backed league beyond 2025.
Three years after his groundbreaking move from the PGA Tour in 2022 — a switch reportedly worth around $100 million — Johnson has opted to remain loyal to LIV Golf. The decision comes after weeks of speculation about whether the two-time major champion might seek a return to the PGA Tour amid a dip in his major performances.
According to reports from FlushingIt on X, Johnson’s representatives met with LIV Golf officials in New York last month, where they finalized the new deal. Though the financial terms remain undisclosed, the 2022 LIV Individual Champion will continue as captain of the 4Aces GC team, which includes Patrick Reed, Jason Kokrak, and Harold Varner III.
“Multiple sources confirm that Dustin Johnson has signed a new contract with LIV Golf,” FlushingIt wrote. “The details of the deal are unknown at this stage, but he will return as captain of the 4Aces GC in 2026.”
Johnson’s renewal comes as the first wave of LIV Golf contracts nears expiration. Fellow stars Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau are also in talks to extend their deals, with DeChambeau recently hinting he’s close to re-signing.
Johnson, who missed out on the 2025 Ryder Cup, had reportedly faced a “sudden realization” alongside Koepka and Reed — that without a guaranteed route back to major championships, their future stability in professional golf relied heavily on LIV Golf renewals.
Despite his recent struggles on golf’s biggest stages, Johnson remains one of LIV Golf’s marquee figures and one of the first high-profile players to commit to a long-term future with the league.
With the extension secured, Johnson is set to lead the 4Aces GC into the 2026 season, reaffirming his place as one of LIV Golf’s cornerstone names as the league prepares for its next phase of competition.
