Tiger Woods Finalizes 2025 Hero World Challenge Field with Three Exemptions

Tiger Woods has announced the final three players completing the 20-man field for the 2025 Hero World Challenge, which will be held at Albany in The Bahamas from December 4–7.

The 15-time major winner revealed that Jordan SpiethBilly Horschel, and Akshay Bhatia have received special invitations to compete in the $5 million event, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Spieth, Horschel, and Bhatia Eyeing a Late-Season Boost

Each of the three Americans has experienced a challenging year on the PGA Tour and will be eager to close out 2025 on a high note. Early in the season, all were considered potential picks for Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup team, but none made the final roster for Bethpage.

Spieth, who captured the Hero World Challenge title in 2014 with a record 10-shot victory at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, returns to familiar ground. Horschel recently made his comeback at the BMW PGA Championship but missed the cut at Wentworth, while Bhatia’s strong start to the season with a T3 finish at The Players faded as the year went on.

Scheffler Chasing History

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will once again headline the field and is aiming to become the first player to win the Hero World Challenge three years in a row. Scheffler has dominated at Albany, winning the last two editions — including a six-stroke victory in 2024 over Tom Kim, the largest margin since the event moved to The Bahamas.

Woods Still Recovering

Although hosting the event, Tiger Woods will not compete this year as he continues to recover from his seventh back surgery and a previous operation on a ruptured Achilles tendon. Reports suggest he may need several more months of recovery before potentially returning to competitive play at The Masters in 2026.
