FIA Issues Statement on Punishment After FQ Team Admits Rule Breach

The FIA has officially responded after the FQ Racing Team admitted to breaching key sporting regulations during last weekend’s Grand Prix. In a statement released earlier today, the governing body confirmed that disciplinary measures have been imposed following what it described as a “clear violation of procedural integrity.”

According to the FIA, the breach occurred during qualifying, where the FQ Team allegedly failed to comply with technical directives concerning car setup and data disclosure. After an internal review, the team acknowledged the infraction and cooperated fully with the investigation — a move the FIA said “was taken into account” when deciding the penalty.

“The FIA maintains a zero-tolerance stance on any form of regulatory misconduct,” the statement read. “While we recognize the team’s honesty and willingness to cooperate, it remains our responsibility to ensure that all competitors operate on a level playing field.”

As a result, the FQ Team has been fined €250,000 and issued a suspended race ban, which will come into effect if a similar violation occurs within the next 12 months. Additionally, the team’s qualifying results from the affected event have been annulled, meaning their driver will start from the back of the grid in the next race.

Team Principal Marco Reyes expressed regret following the decision: “We accept the FIA’s ruling and take full responsibility for the oversight. This incident does not reflect the values of our organization, and we’ve already implemented new internal checks to prevent any future errors.”

The controversy has sparked debate within the motorsport community, with fans and pundits divided over whether the punishment was too lenient. Some argue that the FIA’s decision reflects fairness given the team’s cooperation, while others believe a harsher sanction would have sent a stronger message.

With tensions high and the championship entering its decisive stages, all eyes will be on FQ Racing to see how they respond on track — and whether the FIA’s disciplinary line holds firm in upcoming rounds.
