Shane Lowry Flies Home in Style with Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald After Impressive Finish in India

Ireland’s Shane Lowry celebrated a strong performance at the DP World Tour Championship in India by flying home in first-class company — alongside Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.

The Offaly native, 38, looked relaxed and cheerful as he shared a smiling selfie from the front of an Emirates flight, captioning it: “Sitting up front with the Captain.” The photo, posted on social media, quickly gained thousands of likes from fans who loved seeing the two Ryder Cup heroes reunited off the course.

Lowry, who finished tied for third at the Delhi Golf Club with a score of -18, ended the week just four shots behind winner Tommy Fleetwood. The result marks another strong showing for the 2023 Ryder Cup hero, who continues to climb the Race to Dubai rankings — jumping 47 spots to 60th.

Donald, who captained Team Europe to a thrilling 15–13 victory over the United States at Bethpage Black, looked equally at ease beside Lowry as the pair jetted back to their Florida homes.

The DP World Tour’s season finale in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will feature only the top 70 and 50 players respectively. However, reports suggest that Ryder Cup stars like Lowry may receive special exemptions to compete regardless of ranking — a move seen as the Tour’s effort to keep its biggest European names in the spotlight during the crucial closing stretch of the season.

For now, Lowry’s form and good spirits hint that more big performances could be just around the corner as the season nears its end.
