Former PGA Tour winner Hudson Swafford has officially traded golf clubs for contracts — real estate contracts, that is. The 38-year-old American, who once teed it up on the controversial LIV Golf circuit, is now building a new life away from professional golf after his exit from the Saudi-backed league last year.
Swafford joined LIV Golf in 2022, part of the initial wave of players who left the PGA Tour amid the sport’s biggest power shift in decades. However, his stint on the breakaway tour was short-lived. Despite entering the season as a wildcard, Swafford struggled to make an impact, managing a best finish of T36 before being released at the end of the campaign.
Since his departure, Swafford has remained suspended from the PGA Tour — a consequence faced by all players who signed with LIV Golf. That ban effectively closed the door on a return to traditional competition, forcing him to consider what life beyond golf might look like.
Now, Swafford has found a fresh sense of purpose in real estate. According to reports, he has been working full-time in the industry, focusing on property investment and sales — a field that has given him the opportunity to apply his focus and discipline in new ways.
It marks a significant shift for the former University of Georgia standout, who claimed three PGA Tour victories during his career, including wins at the 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge and the 2022 American Express.
While the transition away from professional sport can be challenging for many athletes, Swafford appears to be embracing this new chapter with optimism. Though his competitive days may be behind him for now, his story reflects a broader reality faced by several former LIV players whose contracts weren’t renewed and who remain without a clear path back to elite golf.
As the future of LIV Golf continues to evolve, Hudson Swafford’s move into real estate serves as a reminder that even in the unpredictable world of professional golf, there can be life — and success — after the fairways.
