Five PGA Tour Winners Who Could Join LIV Golf Amid Reported Talks with Recent Champions

LIV Golf is reportedly in discussions with two recent PGA Tour event winners as the Saudi-backed league looks to strengthen its roster ahead of the upcoming season. With six spots still available, speculation is growing over which stars could make the move.

According to Golf Digest, conversations are still in the early stages, but LIV’s ongoing push to boost its credibility means several PGA Tour winners could be on their radar. Here are five potential targets who might be tempted to switch sides.

Steven Fisk

American golfer Steven Fisk could be among the names linked to LIV Golf. The 27-year-old secured his first PGA Tour title earlier this month at the Sanderson Farms Championship, edging out Garrick Higgo.

Fisk, who only earned his full Tour card last season, pocketed around £750,000 for the victory and guaranteed his card until 2027. However, the promise of a lucrative LIV contract might still prove tempting. A move would cost him a place at The Players Championship but wouldn’t affect his eligibility for next year’s PGA Championship.

J.J. Spaun

U.S. Open champion J.J. Spaun has had a career-defining year. Before lifting his first major trophy at Oakmont, Spaun had just one PGA Tour win—the 2022 Valero Texas Open.

The American star also came close at both The Players Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship, where he lost to Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose, respectively. Given LIV’s history of signing major winners, Spaun could be a high-profile addition, joining fellow U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, who made the switch in 2022.

Cameron Young

Team USA Ryder Cup standout Cameron Young could also be on LIV’s wishlist. The 28-year-old finally captured his first PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship in August, earning over £1 million.

Young, who had several near-misses since his 2022 rookie year, delivered a strong Ryder Cup debut and finished T4 at the U.S. Open. Although he previously dismissed rumours linking him to LIV, a major offer could still change his mind.

Sepp Straka

Austrian Ryder Cup star Sepp Straka enjoyed a stellar 2025 season, winning both the Truist Championship and another Tour event earlier in the year. His latest victory earned him £2.7 million and solidified his place among Europe’s elite.

However, with Jon Rahm—who joined LIV in 2024—leading the Legion XIII GC team and looking to expand his roster, Straka could be persuaded to join his European teammate alongside Tyrrell Hatton.

Chris Gotterup

Rounding out the list is Chris Gotterup, one of America’s fastest-rising golf talents. Since turning professional in 2022, the 25-year-old has made huge strides, capturing the Myrtle Beach Classic in 2024 and the Genesis Scottish Open this July.

Gotterup held off Rory McIlroy to claim victory in Scotland and delivered a strong performance at The Open, surging into the world’s top 30 from outside the top 150. For LIV, a player of his momentum and youth would be a perfect long-term investment.

With LIV Golf seeking fresh faces and proven winners to keep their competition relevant, these five players represent some of the most intriguing possibilities for the breakaway tour’s next wave of recruits.
