The Skins Game Returns After 17 Years — Featuring Four PGA Tour Stars and a New Money Twist

Golf fans are in for a treat this Thanksgiving season. After a 17-year hiatus, The Skins Game is making its long-awaited return in 2025—and it’s bringing a modern twist to the classic format.

Set to take place on Black Friday, November 28, at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the event will feature four PGA Tour standouts who all competed in the recent Ryder Cup: Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Keegan Bradley, and Tommy Fleetwood.

Chad Mumm, co-founder and president of Pro Shop—the production company teaming up with PGA Tour Studios and Propgate Content—shared his excitement about reviving the legendary event:

“We’ve taken up the mantle to bring back The Skins Game and reclaim its rightful place on the sports calendar. By keeping the traditional format intact and adding some creative twists, we’re honoring the past while delivering high-stakes competition where the pressure builds with every shot.”

One of those creative twists is a “reverse purse” system. Each golfer will start with $1 million, with their totals adjusted after every hole depending on wins or losses. Each hole will still carry a dollar value, ensuring every stroke counts and the tension stays high from start to finish.

If you’re looking for an early favorite, Justin Thomas might have an edge—he helped Jack Nicklaus design Panther National, which officially opened in November 2023.

Originally introduced in 1983, The Skins Game ran annually until 2008, becoming one of golf’s most entertaining and unpredictable events. Its 2025 comeback promises to blend nostalgia with fresh excitement.

Fans can tune in to Amazon Prime Video at 9 a.m. ET on Black Friday to catch all the action live.
