Brooklyn Beckham’s outing at the Ryder Cup celebrity golf match on Wednesday didn’t go quite as planned. The 26-year-old, eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, joined Team Europe alongside basketball legend Toni Kukoč in a face-off against Eli Manning and comedian Colin Jost for Team USA at Bethpage Black in New York.
Unfortunately, Beckham’s game drew more laughs than cheers. Fans in the crowd heckled him for his “terrible” performance, joking about his lack of skill after a string of mishaps on the course.

According to an insider, things went south from the very start when Brooklyn lost his ball after his opening shot. With the three-minute search time expired, he had to take the penalty and restart. The rough day didn’t stop there—he repeatedly hit balls out of bounds and spent much of the 11-hole round stuck in bunkers.
“Every time he swung, it felt like it ended up in a tree or a bunker,” one fan remarked. Another teased Kukoč, asking: “Isn’t he making you look small?”
To make matters worse, some spectators seemed unsure of who he even was, with one quipping: “Isn’t that just David Beckham’s son?”
While Eli Manning drew huge cheers, autograph requests, and even played catch with young fans between holes, Brooklyn mostly kept his head down. The insider said he looked frustrated, avoiding the crowd and at one point walking far behind the ropes as if he didn’t want to hear the jeers. His only comfort seemed to come from his caddy, who patted him on the back and offered words of encouragement.
Later that evening, Beckham swapped his golf gear for a black T-shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap as he attended the Glenfiddich x Aston Martin Formula One Scotch Whisky launch event.
Speaking afterward, Brooklyn admitted the New York crowd wasn’t exactly on his side:
“I feel like they didn’t like me at all—but it was amazing,” he told the Daily Mail. “They gave me some stick, but I expected it. Going against Eli in New York? Of course they were going to laugh. I just tried to have fun out there.”
He added that he’s still a beginner: “Honestly, it was nerve-racking. I’ve only been playing golf for a few weeks, but it was such a cool experience I couldn’t say no.”
Despite the tough reception, Brooklyn said he wasn’t bothered by the criticism:
“There’s always going to be negative comments. But I have a very supportive wife, and together we just keep our heads down and do our thing. We’re happy, and that’s all that matters.”
