Bryson DeChambeau may have been banned from the PGA Tour’s Ryder Cup warm-up at the Procure Championship, but that hasn’t stopped him from proving his commitment to Team USA.
The two-time U.S. Open winner, who will make his third Ryder Cup appearance later this month, automatically qualified for Keegan Bradley’s side alongside Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, and Harris English. However, DeChambeau remains ineligible for PGA Tour events due to his status as a LIV Golf player.
While Schauffele is also missing the tune-up after recently welcoming his first child, DeChambeau has still traveled to Napa Valley to support his teammates. The 31-year-old has been spotted cheering from the sidelines and attending team dinners in a clear effort to strengthen team chemistry ahead of Bethpage Black.
Speaking on his exclusion, DeChambeau admitted:
“That’s up to the Tour and their decision to make. It’s on them if they don’t let us become together as a team and play. It’s unfortunate, and I wish it was different, but LIV’s willing to let me play.”
DeChambeau owns a 2-3-1 career Ryder Cup record but impressed in 2021 when he went unbeaten. Absent from the 2023 loss in Rome, he now insists he has matured and learned valuable lessons about team golf.
“What I’ve learned is to let the individual be the best version of themselves to add to the team. Don’t put someone in a bubble and tell them what to do. My college coach taught me to just ‘let me be me’—and that’s when I’ve thrived.”
The 2025 Ryder Cup takes place at Bethpage Black from September 26–28, where DeChambeau will aim to back up his words with performances that could help the U.S. reclaim the trophy from Europe.
