Second Title at the K Club
Rory McIlroy rediscovered his best form to win his second Irish Open title at the K Club, delivering a timely confidence boost as the season enters its crucial final stretch.
“One of the Best Seasons of My Career”
“To do what I did earlier in the year and then come home and win my national Open — no matter what happens for the rest of the season, it’s already a pretty special year,” McIlroy said after lifting the trophy.
“2025 is going to go down as one of the best seasons of my career, if not the best. But we’re not done yet. We’ve got a big week coming up at Wentworth, and of course, everyone’s looking forward to the Ryder Cup.”
Confidence Growing Ahead of Wentworth
McIlroy’s performance marked a return to the top after a brief dip in form earlier this summer. His latest success has left him full of belief heading into the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and the Ryder Cup.
“I’m just so happy with where my game is right now,” McIlroy added. “I feel like I’m playing really well, and that excites me for what’s next.”
Back to His Best
The Northern Irishman’s comments echo what he said back in July, when after the Scottish Open he revealed he felt “pretty close” to returning to his pre-Masters level.
“I think I had a little lull, which is understandable,” he explained. “But now I feel like I’m getting back to the standard I know I can play at.”
