Rory McIlroy has finally spoken openly about the divorce rumors that surrounded him throughout 2024, describing the experience as a difficult but eye-opening period that ultimately brought him closer to his family.
The four-time major champion shocked the sporting world in May 2024 when he filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Stoll, citing that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” The news came just days before the PGA Championship, sparking intense media speculation about his personal life and future.
But only a month later, McIlroy reversed course. The couple reconciled and filed to dismiss the divorce case, choosing instead to focus on rebuilding their relationship and family life with their young daughter, Poppy.
