Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler Announcement

Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler have confirmed they will headline a brand-new made-for-TV golf event this December at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida.

The two stars revealed they will serve as captains for opposing four-man teams in a one-day showdown organized by media company Versant. The event, set for mid-December, will bring together top PGA Tour talent in an America vs. Europe-style format.

“We’re excited to do something fresh for the fans,” McIlroy said. “This event is about showcasing skill, having fun, and giving people a reason to tune in during the holidays.”

Scheffler added, “Anytime you get the chance to compete against Rory, it’s special. We’re both fired up to captain our sides and make this a memorable event.”

Only PGA Tour players will be involved, meaning no LIV Golf names will feature this time around. That marks a shift from last year’s Las Vegas “Showdown,” where McIlroy and Scheffler took on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.

Versant, which already has strong ties to McIlroy through GolfPass, will broadcast the action across its networks. Talks for a title sponsor are still ongoing.

The timing is notable — both McIlroy and Scheffler will face off at the Ryder Cup in New York this September before squaring up again in Florida just weeks later.
