Tommy Fleetwood finally got his long-awaited breakthrough on American soil, capturing his first PGA Tour title at the season-ending Tour Championship. The Englishman held his nerve on a tense Sunday at East Lake to secure victory in the $40 million finale.
Fleetwood began the final round tied at the top with Patrick Cantlay, but the U.S. Ryder Cup hopeful stumbled early with a disastrous start. Cantlay dropped three shots across the opening two holes before steadying himself with birdies at the 6th and 10th.
Despite a bogey at the 15th, Fleetwood remained composed and never relinquished his lead. With a 72-hole total of 18-under par, he finished three strokes clear of Cantlay and Russell Henley to lift the trophy in emotional fashion.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, along with several Ryder Cup stars, also finished inside the top 10.
