A Florida man has been banned from playing golf on any public course as part of his bail conditions after attacking another golfer during a dispute over slow play.
The incident occurred in June at a Kissimmee golf course when Jason Hughes became enraged with a group ahead of him for chatting on the green despite his warning to speed up. Hughes reportedly punched one golfer repeatedly in the face, leaving him with an orbital fracture and requiring stitches.
The injured golfer refused an ambulance and was taken to the hospital by a friend. Hughes fled after the altercation but was later identified through the tee-time credit card and course surveillance footage.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm, with bail set at $2,500. As a condition of release, he is prohibited from playing on any publicly accessible golf course.
A local golfer told Fox 35 Orlando, “If you’re out here trying to be aggressive, you picked the wrong game. Go do jiu-jitsu or kung fu.”
