A video has surfaced allegedly showing Donald Trump’s caddie placing a ball in the rough for him during a round at his Turnberry golf course in Scotland. The incident has fueled accusations that the former president cheats on the course, a claim long associated with his golfing reputation.
The footage shows Trump arriving in his cart, walking toward a ball apparently placed by a caddie ahead of him, though the clip cuts off before he takes the shot. Social media reactions were swift, with users calling it “undeniable proof” of cheating, while others mocked Trump’s numerous club championship claims.
This is not the first time Trump’s golf ethics have been questioned. Rick Reilly’s 2019 book Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump detailed numerous instances of alleged dishonesty, describing him as someone who cheats whether watched or not.
Trump maintains an official handicap of 2.8, a figure Reilly once joked was as unlikely as “Queen Elizabeth being a pole vaulter.” Despite controversy, Trump praised Turnberry as “the best resort in the world,” though the historic course hasn’t hosted The Open Championship since 2009.
R&A chief executive Mark Darbon recently met with Eric Trump but said the decision on future Open venues rests solely with the R&A.
