Bryson DeChambeau has admitted that LIV Golf hasn’t developed as quickly as many expected, just days before the 2025 Open Championship gets underway at Royal Portrush.
The 2020 U.S. Open winner, who joined LIV Golf in its early stages, was honest about the league’s current standing when asked about its growth during his media duties.
“We’ve definitely made progress,” DeChambeau said. “But if I’m being real, things haven’t moved as fast as we thought they would. There’s still a lot of work to do.”
Since its launch, LIV Golf has drawn big names and sparked major debate in the golf world. But despite big-money signings and global events, DeChambeau suggested that there’s still a gap between where LIV wants to be and where it actually is.
He also emphasized that the product is improving and there’s reason to be optimistic — but admitted the momentum has taken longer to build than originally planned.
As attention shifts to the historic major in Northern Ireland, DeChambeau remains focused on the competition but didn’t shy away from acknowledging the uphill climb LIV Golf still faces.
