LeBron James Responds to Cavs Practice Facility Speculation

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James addressed the buzz surrounding his recent appearance at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ practice facility, clearing the air amid swirling trade rumors.

Although James remains under contract with the Lakers, his offseason has been dominated by speculation about his future after he picked up his player option for the 2025-26 season. The Lakers have made moves to strengthen their roster—signing Jake LaRavia and Deandre Ayton on two-year deals—but that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering if James might seek a trade or buyout.

On Friday, a photo of James at the Cavaliers’ training facility set social media ablaze, with many interpreting it as a possible sign of a third stint in Cleveland. The Cavs hold a special place in James’ career, having been the team that drafted him No. 1 overall and where he brought a championship in 2016.

But James took to social media to explain the situation and calm the rumors.

“And every summer since it was built,” James said of his visit. “I live here still and train every summer. Got d\*\*\* y’all bored man! Go get a plate of food somewhere and enjoy the 4th of July!”

James and his agent Rich Paul are no strangers to controlling the media narrative and keeping James’ name at the forefront. Even so, his one-year, \$52.5 million contract makes any trade complex. The Cavaliers have been floated as a possible landing spot if a deal involving a third team could be arranged, while the Mavericks are reportedly interested only if he’s bought out.

As Lakers GM Rob Pelinka continues to build the roster, LeBron’s decision about staying in Los Angeles could determine how high the Lakers’ ceiling will be in 2025-26.
