F1 star facing ‘immediate sacking’ after Miami Grand Prix with replacement already lined up

In the wake of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, the Formula 1 paddock is abuzz with speculation regarding potential driver changes, particularly concerning Daniel Ricciardo’s position at RB (formerly AlphaTauri). Reports suggest that Ricciardo’s seat is under scrutiny following a series of underwhelming performances, with Liam Lawson being considered as a possible replacement.(GB News)

Ricciardo’s recent form has raised concerns within the team, especially after a collision with Alex Albon at the Suzuka Grand Prix, which some analysts described as an “amateur mistake.”

This incident, coupled with a lackluster showing in Miami, has intensified discussions about his future with the team. Former F1 driver Karun Chandhok commented on the situation, stating, “Ricciardo’s performances haven’t met expectations, and the team needs to consider all options moving forward.” (GB News)

Liam Lawson, who previously stepped in for Ricciardo during his injury hiatus in 2023, has been making a strong case for a full-time seat.

His impressive performances during that stint have not gone unnoticed, and many within the F1 community believe he is ready for a permanent role. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has acknowledged Lawson’s potential, noting, “Liam has shown great promise, and we’re closely monitoring his development.” (The Guardian)

While no official announcement has been made, the consensus is that Ricciardo’s position is precarious, and a decision regarding his future could be imminent. As the European leg of the season approaches, all eyes will be on RB to see if they make a strategic driver change to bolster their performance.
