Jon Rahm drives green at 462-yard par-4 (!) but trails Bryson DeChambeau at LIV Golf Mexico

Jon Rahm absolutely crushed a drive during the second round of LIV Golf Mexico City, reaching the green on the 462-yard par-4 13th hole. Playing at elevation, Rahm unleashed his Callaway driver and got himself a look at eagle. He couldn’t sink the long putt but tapped in for birdie instead.

It was one of five birdies for Rahm, who shot a 69 and moved up to 9-under par, sitting solo fourth. Still, the man to beat is Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau, coming off an opening-round 63, kept the momentum rolling with a 66 on Saturday to climb to 13-under par. He’s chasing his third LIV Golf win and his first since LIV Golf Chicago back in September 2023.

Right behind him is Cameron Smith, who matched DeChambeau’s 66 to stay just one shot back. Smith is also hunting his fourth LIV title and his first since Bedminster in August 2023.

One crazy stat: DeChambeau has eagled the short par-4 2nd hole — which measures 316 yards — in both rounds so far this week.

DeChambeau and Smith will tee it up together in Sunday’s final round, and the respect between them is clear.

“It’s scary when Cam gets on the greens,” DeChambeau said. “Whenever he’s putting, I just expect a one-putt. It’s pretty amazing to watch.”

Smith had some kind words in return: “I wish I could drive the ball like Bryson. Sometimes I wonder how much better I’d be if I had that in my game.”

DeChambeau added: “It’s going to be fun tomorrow. We’re both going to go after it.”
