PGA Tour golfer Billy Horschel has revealed he was forced to skip the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a ‘lower body injury’.
Horschel unexpectedly withdrew from the team event at TPC Louisiana on Wednesday.
He was supposed to partner Tom Hoge but the Tour’s communications department has confirmed first alternate Kevin Chappell will now replace Horschel.
“Sucks to WD,” Horschel wrote on X. “Unfortunately, I have a lower body injury.
“Hopefully after a few days of rest, recovery and therapy, I’ll be back and good to go.”
Horschel is the only player to win the tournament as an individual (2013) and as part of a team (with Scott Piercy in 2018).
The 35-year-old revealed what his post-Masters celebrations looked like in Northern Ireland in a pre-tournament news conference.
He said he had been touched by how his journey in completing the career grand slam resonated with people from all walks of life.
McIlroy said two former presidents called him within 24 hours of his playoff win over Justin Rose to pass on their congratulations.
