Viktor Hovland breaks Justin Thomas’ heart to claim first PGA Tour win since 2023

European Ryder Cup star Viktor Hovland claimed his first PGA Tour win since the 2023 Tour Championship with an incredible final round performance at the Valspar Championship.

Viktor Hovland birdied two out of his final three holes to claim his first PGA Tour win since 2023 at the Valspar Championship.

Hovland began the day at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course in a three-way tie for the lead with Justin Thomas and Jacob Bridgeman.

Thomas and Hovland shared the lead with three holes remaining but it was the American that faltered down the stretch.

The 2022 US PGA Championship winner dropped shots at 16 and 18 while Hovland put circles on his scorecard on 16 and 17 to set up an easy stroll down the last.

Hovland hit a dreadful tee shot on the par-4 18th but a closing bogey was enough to win by one after carding a 4-under 67.

It is Hovland’s first victory since the 2023 Tour Championship at East Lake.
