The world number one tennis player and favorite to win the Australian Open, Italian , now knows when he will have to appear before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a hearing regarding his doping case. On Friday, the tribunal announced that the hearing is scheduled for April 16 and 17.
The hearing will be conducted in person and will be closed to the public, held at the CAS headquarters in the Swiss city of Lausanne. The court has the authority to ban Sinner for up to two years due to a positive test from an anti-doping examination conducted in March of last year. The looming threat of a severe sanction has caused tension within the tennis star’s team in recent months.
This meeting is set to determine the future of the Italian in the professional circuit. The ranking leader tested positive for an anabolic steroid. At the time, Sinner defended himself by stating that the presence of the banned substance in his system was unintentional. He claimed that the steroid was present in a spray used by his physiotherapist to treat an injury on the same finger. The substance allegedly came into contact with the tennis player during a massage session
