On Sunday, January 5, Hideki Matsuyama fired an 8-under 65 to win the Sentry 2025, beating Collin Morikawa by a three-stroke margin. After four days of play, he finished at 35-under, breaking the PGA Tour’s record for the lowest 72-hole score.
Matsuyama entered the final day at Kapalua with a 54-hole, one-stroke lead at 27-under. He started with an eagle on the third hole and picked up a birdie on the fifth. After bogeying the seventh hole, he closed the front nine with two more birdies. He added four more birdies on the back nine to win the season opener.
The lowest 72-hole scoring record on the PGA Tour was previously held by Cameron Smith, who had carded a 32-under at the Sentry 2022.
