2024 Team USA Olympic team: Scottie Scheffler makes the cut, Bryson DeChambeau snubbed

The 2024 Team USA Olympic golf roster has been finalized. Scottie Scheffler has made the cut while the recent US Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau has failed to make the cut.

The US Open, which concluded on Sunday, June 16, was the final opportunity for golfers to qualify for the Olympics before the deadline. The 2024 Olympics are scheduled to be held at Albatros course at the Le Golf National in Paris from August 1st to 4th.

As per the Olympic qualification criteria, the top 15 players in the OWGR rankings are eligible to participate in the games. However, a maximum of four players from a country in the top 15 can qualify. Therefore from the United States, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa have qualified for the Paris Olympics.

Scottie Scheffler is currently ranked No.1, Xander Schauffele is ranked No.3, Wyndham Clark is ranked No.5 and Collin Morikawa is ranked No.7 in the OWGR rankings. These four players were the highest-ranked individuals from the United States in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

OWGR 1- Scottie Scheffler

OWGR 3- Xander Schauffele

OWGR 5- Wyndham Clark

OWGR 7- Collin Morikawa

Despite winning the US Open, Bryson DeChambeau couldn’t qualify as he wasn’t eligible, per the criteria. He jumped 28 spots from 38th to 10th after the win but that wasn’t enough for the qualification. Being a LIV Golf player, he doesn’t receive OWGR points. However, his performance in the Majors has been splendid. He has had three top-6 finishes in three Majors so far.

Patrick Cantlay from the United States is positioned 8th in the rankings and still failed to make the cut.
